Do you already know the brains and founder behind Fokus Zukunft?
Peter Friess. Everything started with him:
He developed a keen interest in climate economics during his business studies in Frankfurt am Main. It was around this time that Runway West was being planned at Frankfurt Airport – a major issue for the environmental movement of the 1970s and 80s.
Years later As a businessman, Peter Friess finds himself sitting on a plane twice a week and even works for several years as CEO of an energy supplier. But the gradual shift in mindset continues here and the topic of social sustainability moves into his focus. And with it come questions like: How do you become a good employer? One thing is crystal-clear already: “You have to offer meaning if you expect performance.”
2007 Peter embraces the topic of sustainability and sets himself the following goal: to transform the company into a sustainable energy supplier.
2009 A game-changing occurrence at a customer event organised by a car manufacturer. Fast cars are doing their laps – fuelled with liquid gas. The veil lifts: “We can’t go on like this. This is not sustainable.” That one crucial moment in Peter’s life arrives the same night: the birth of his own grandchild. There is no turning back now: “Starting today, I will work only in the interests of sustainability – to offer my grandchildren and coming generations a liveable future.” No sooner said than done!
2016 Peter Friess founds Fokus Zukunft – driven by the thought: “The day will come when more and more companies will want to enshrine sustainability as part of their corporate culture. When that happens, we will accompany them and offer the support that they need.”
2021 FRIEDRICH SCHARR KG acquires the majority shareholding in Fokus Zukunft.
2023 Peter Frieß ends his operation as Managing Director on July 1 and supports henceforth the future- and growth-oriented development of the company as a shareholder and partner.
