ESPR & DPP implementation
– Fulfilling obligations, securing product portfolio

Do you manufacture or distribute furniture, mattresses, textiles, tires, steel, iron, or aluminum? Then you are affected by the new EU regulation for sustainable product design (ESPR), including the introduction of the Digital Product Passport (DPP). With our modular service package, we guide your company toward secure compliance. You select exactly the phases you need.

Your advantages of the
ESPR & DPP implementation

  1. Risk minimization: Early preparation reduces the risk of delays, penalties, or market barriers once ESPR requirements become mandatory.
  2. Efficiency gains: The modular approach allows processes and data management to be set up in a timely manner, avoiding costs and stress later on.
  3. Supplier integration: Early involvement of the supply chain ensures the availability of primary data and prevents information gaps.
  4. Strategic planning: A clear roadmap enables investments and product developments with regard to future regulatory thresholds and new business models.

Your path to a successful
ESPR & DPP implementation

Step 1

Introduction and strategic preparation

To prepare your company optimally for the requirements, we hold an introductory seminar on ESPR and DPP, in which we explain the legal, technical, and strategic implications. We then carry out stakeholder mapping and prioritization to identify the most important players in your value chain. This makes it clear who is crucial for compliance. Finally, we analyze which products in your portfolio are affected and jointly define a clear action plan.

Step 2

Preliminary assessment of environmental performance

In the second phase, we focus on understanding your current situation. To do so, we conduct an initial assessment based on a representative product, calculate a PCF or LCA, and check the availability of your data. This allows us to identify information gaps and critical points in environmental performance that could affect compliance. This analysis gives you a clear idea of where you stand and what you need to move forward.

Step 3

Compliance with regulatory requirements

As soon as the delegated acts are published, we will assist you with data collection and the calculation of the required environmental indicators. We will prepare all information in the required format for the Digital Product Passport (DPP) and ensure that you meet the regulatory standards.

Step 4

Strategic consulting for product development

We advise you on strategies such as eco-design, circular economy, and environmental performance optimization, and support you in redesigning products and sustainable business models that give you a clear competitive advantage.

Frequently asked questions,
that we answer

The Ecodesign for Sustainable Products Regulation (ESPR), adopted in 2024, specifies how products should be designed in an environmentally friendly manner, with a focus on durability, reparability, recyclability, and environmental impact. It replaces the previous Ecodesign Directive and significantly expands its scope beyond energy-related products.

The Digital Product Passport (DPP) provides product-specific data using technologies such as QR codes or RFID. It contains information on material composition, carbon footprint, and traceability, for example. The DPP will be mandatory for products manufactured, traded, and imported in the EU.

The ESPR is already in force as a framework regulation, but the specific obligations for companies will only be determined by the delegated acts for individual product groups. Transition periods apply depending on the product group. In our blog article “ESPR and the digital product passport: What companies should know and do now,” we keep you up to date on the latest developments.
