Sustainability reporting

Sustainability report
according to VSME

The VSME standard is the ideal solution for companies that want to communicate their sustainability performance in a transparent and structured manner, regardless of regulatory requirements. Small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) can secure clear advantages through voluntary reporting. We provide support in producing a well-founded voluntary sustainability report.

Your advantages of
voluntary reporting

  1. Proactively manage indirect regulatory impact: Many companies receive sustainability inquiries from their value chain because larger business partners have to fulfill their own reporting obligations. A voluntary sustainability report helps you to be prepared for these requirements.
  2. Improved access to capital: VSME-compliant companies gain greater trust among investors and banks, securing more favorable financing terms.
  3. Cost savings through process optimization: Structured data collection reveals inefficiencies and enables targeted improvements, reducing costs in the long term.

Your path to preparing a voluntary sustainability report

Step 1

Kick-Off

In the first step, we clarify the responsibilities, the project plan and the project framework. We determine which content is particularly relevant and which steps are necessary for the preparation of the sustainability report.

Step 2

GAP analysis and data collection

We analyze the current status of existing data, check its availability and clarify its significance and where you can find it. You then start collecting the missing data and information. We support you in identifying and structuring the relevant information.

Step 3

Reporting

Based on the data collected, we develop a structure and content concept for the report. The text is then created to present your company’s sustainability performance clearly and comprehensibly. Several feedback loops are provided to ensure that the report is optimally tailored to your needs.

Step 4

Layout & Visualization

We design the report to be visually appealing and professional. This includes the layout design of the text pages, the creation of graphics and diagrams as well as the visual preparation of the content for clear and comprehensible communication.

Step 5

Finalization and quality assurance

In the final phase, we check the report for consistency, completeness and greenwashing risks. After the final revision, the report is ready for publication.

Frequently asked questions,
that we answer

The Voluntary Sustainability Standard for SME (VSME) is a voluntary standard for sustainability reporting. It comprises several modules covering various aspects, including the environment, social responsibility and corporate governance. Initiated by the European Financial Reporting Advisory Group (EFRAG), the standard provides a flexible framework for non-listed SMEs. Compared to the comprehensive European Sustainability Reporting Standards (ESRS), the VSME is less complex. It supports small and medium-sized companies in communicating their sustainability goals and performance transparently.
