Support Process

Step 1

Kick-off & Initial Assessment

At the outset, we assess your company’s general suitability for B Corp certification and analyse its corporate structure, legal form and business model. We then introduce you to the B Impact Assessment and provide an initial evaluation of your current level of maturity.

Step 2

B Impact Assessment & Gap Analysis

In the next step, we work through the relevant areas of the B Impact Assessment and evaluate your existing sustainability performance across governance, employees, community, environment and customers. In doing so, we identify missing processes, evidence and policies. Based on these findings, we develop an individual action roadmap for the next stages of the certification process.

Step 3

Implementation & Evidence Preparation

Based on the gap analysis, we support you in establishing and further developing the required policies and processes. Together, we improve sustainability performance in the relevant areas and support the implementation of requirements relating to governance, employees, supply chains and the environment. We also prepare the necessary documentation and supporting evidence.

Step 4

Preparation for the B Lab Review

Before submission, we review the information for plausibility and completeness and support you in completing the B Impact Assessment. We also prepare you for potential follow-up questions and verification interviews. The submission is made by your company, while the subsequent review and certification are carried out directly by B Lab.

Step 5

Continuous Improvement & Score Optimisation (optional)

If desired, we continue to support you beyond the submission stage. We analyse B Lab’s feedback and assessment, identify opportunities to improve your B Impact Score and prioritise measures with a high potential for both impact and score improvement. Based on this, we develop a roadmap towards recertification and support you in permanently integrating B Corp requirements into management systems and business processes. At the same time, we identify synergies with CSRD, climate strategy, supply chain management and your broader sustainability strategy.

Depending on the size of the company, its starting point and the amount of implementation work required, preparation typically takes between six and twelve months. The subsequent review and verification by B Lab take place separately.

Companies must have been legally operating for at least 12 months, incorporate stakeholder interests into their governing documents and independently meet minimum requirements in each key impact area – from governance to the environment. Since the reform of the B Corp standards, weaknesses in one area can no longer be offset by strengths in another.
