Support for
international climate protection projects

Financing climate protection projects is an effective tool for taking responsibility for climate protection. In addition to avoidance and reduction, this can also have a positive social and ecological impact. When selecting our product portfolio, we also pay attention to internationally recognized standards and high quality.

Your advantages
at a glance

  1. Engagement: Climate protection projects are one possible measure you can take to demonstrate your commitment to climate protection, complementing your reduction measures.
  2. Contribution to the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs): By supporting climate protection projects, you promote sustainable development – for example by creating jobs, protecting biodiversity or improving the quality of life in developing regions.
  3. Promoting sustainable transformation: They support climate protection measures that would not be feasible without external funding and thus make a decisive contribution to the global climate transition.

How to obtain
climate protection certificates

Step 1

Determination of requirements

At the beginning, we determine how many carbon offset certificates you need – based on your greenhouse gas balance and the emissions you would like to offset. You will also receive an overview of the carbon offset projects currently available, including a price list and project description.

Step 2

Decommissioning

We officially retire the selected climate protection certificates so that the emissions are permanently offset. You will then receive a certificate of decommissioning as proof that offsetting has taken place.

Frequently asked questions,
that we answer

Carbon credits generally represent one ton of CO₂ equivalents that are to be avoided, reduced, or captured through an external climate protection project.

The purchase of certificates supports the financing of additional climate protection projects. In this way, they contribute to the promotion of measures outside the company’s own value chain.

No. Climate protection certificates do not replace emission avoidance or reduction in one’s own area of responsibility. The reduction of emissions always has priority.

Supporting climate protection projects is effective when it is used responsibly. Climate protection always begins with avoiding and reducing emissions—but a certain residual amount is unavoidable. This is where the mechanism offers an opportunity to contribute to climate protection outside of one’s own value chain, in addition to reduction. Greenwashing occurs when companies focus exclusively on offsetting instead of actively reducing emissions. Those who take climate protection seriously use climate protection projects to complement a long-term, sustainable strategy.
